Communication with parents
Communication with parents is vital to us. We believe that it is important to work in partnership with parents to have clear and consistent communication so that the students benefit as much as possible from their learning, in school and at home.
We are committed to providing parents with an understanding of our school and in encouraging parents to play an active part in their child(ren)’s education.
The D6 Communicator tool
This is our primary source of communication, and it is vital that all parents have downloaded this application to their mobile phone, laptop or PC. By downloading this app, you will receive news and letters directly to your mobile phone. The D6 also gives you access to our calendar and updated policies and procedures.
Should you require any assistance with the D6 app, please visit receptions located at the Primary School building, reception (girls Building) or reception (Boys Building).
Seesaw App (PRE-KG to Grade 5)
Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what’s happening in the classroom. Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology. Each student gets their journal and will add things to it, like photos, videos, drawings, or notes.
This app requires the parent to have a login (email and password) and is specific to your child(rens)’s class. Parents with more than one child in the school can track using one set of login details as multiple classes can be accessed. We encourage parents to ask their children about what has been posted to Seesaw daily.
Showbie App (Grade 6 – Grade 12)
Showbie combines all of the essential tools for assignments, feedback and communication in one beautiful, easy-to-use app. This is an easy-to-use app that is available for the mobile phone, iPad, laptop or PC. Teachers will share a parent code with parents so that they can connect with them.
Tapestry (Pre-KG, KG1, KG2)
This is a teacher-led app where we share observations with parents about their child’s development and achievements. This app allows parents to see where their child is against the objectives in the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This app is essential in informing parents whether their child is at the expected level for their age group. Tapestry requires the parent to have a login and sent via the homeroom teacher.
The Parent Portal allows parents to access the School Calendar, attendance records, internal ECA’s and school reports. We will communicate with parents before reports are released. Access to the portal via the internet on a laptop or PC is available to parents once they have registered with the school for a login (email and password).
SMS & Email
There may be times when we will send an SMS or email directly to the contact details we have saved in our back office, so it is vital that you notify of us any changes in telephone number or email address.
Our Director and Secondary School Principal publish monthly newsletters. We share links to these newsletters via the D6 or our social media channels.
Each week we also publish a Teacher Talk newsletter so that you get a little more information from our teachers across both schools.
Ajman Academy is very active on social media channels, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. These channels. All parents are asked for permission before sharing photos or videos of their children on social media.
